Opened in 1879, the Conservatory of Flowers is the oldest wood and glass conservatory in North America. It is filled with exotic plants and flowers from all over the world, and one of only four institutions in North America to have a highland tropics exhibit. The Conservatory, located in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, is especially known for its orchid collection, which may be the largest and most comprehensive public collection in the world.
